‘Grown-ish’ Sneak Peek: Tensions Rise as Kelly Rowland and Yara Shadidi Meet in 100th Episode (Exclusive)

Grown-ish is celebrating its 100th episode, and ET has an exclusive preview of the star-studded fashion show with several familiar faces.

Titled “California Love,” Wednesday’s episode features the return of Yara Shahidi‘s Zoey, who is back in Los Angeles to produce a California-themed fashion show that will put her fashion brand, Anti-Muse, on the map. The fashion show involves real-life models, including Winnie Harlow, Aleali May, Stevan Journey, Elias Garcia, Jordan Beckford, Quin, Charlie Brianna, Victoria Villarroel and Chantel Jeffries. Things go awry when Andre (Marcus Scribner), eager to flex his manager skills to impress his sis, oversteps.

In ET’s exclusive sneak peek, tensions rise as Aaron (Trevor Jackson) and Zoey try to assure their friends they can maturely navigate their post-breakup friendship. Although Zoey and Aaron try to convince Doug (Diggy Simmons) and Ana (Francia Raisa), respectively, that they’re “chilling,” neither one believes them.

“No, you’re not. Empaths run in my family and your energy’s wild right now, I can feel it,” Doug retorts.

His prediction proves right when Aaron’s girlfriend/situation-ship, Edie (Kelly Rowland), makes her entrance. Zoey and Ana are understandably stunned by her beauty, with the latter’s jaw visibly dropping. When the fashion designer makes her way to Aaron and Edie’s side, her former beau introduces the two and Zoey dazedly tells the camera, “This is not a rebound. This is a slam dunk.”

The second half of Grown-ish‘s final season kicked off on March 27, picking up right where the first half left off, with Scribner and Shahidi reprising their role as Andre Johnson Jr. (aka Junior) and Zoey Johnson for the final time. In part two of the final installment, Andre prepares to take his first steps into adulthood as graduation approaches and everyone else around him gears up for their last grand adventure.

Series regulars Jackson, Simmons, Daniella Taylor, Justine Skye and Tara Raani also returned for the final season alongside several original cast members, including Raisa, Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat and Luka Sabbat, who will guest star alongside Druski (as Brock), Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, and Latto.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner will also guest star as Doug’s dad, Darnell, and Rich Paul will cameo as himself.

When ET spoke with Shahidi at the 55th NAACP Image Awards, she shared her gratitude for the series ending “on a high” after six years.

“I have to say though, the amount of gratitude I have for six great years — like the fact that Black-ish went eight and this one went six is just so unheard of,” she gushed. “And we got to end on such a high with our 100th episode and with cast members coming back, so I feel like it set the tone for us to just remember there’s a lot to be grateful for.”

She added, “We very much have grown up together, so many of us knew each other well before the show. I always say I voted for Chloe x Halle on Radio Disney and it’s just so special to see everyone blossom into kind of who we’ve always known them to be. But just for that to be publicly recognized is always really special.”

Scribner echoed her sentiment when speaking to ET ahead of season 6’s premiere

“I’ve been playing this character for 10 years; he’s a great guy, I love the dude. And I’m excited for where Junior has been able to take things,” he shared. “I never could have imagined when we started Black-ish that this is where the character would end up. So I’m very thankful and just happy with where he’s gone, and I’m like, ‘OK, it’s time to say goodbye.'”

Despite a mature approach to the end of the road, Scribner admitted that he’s “gonna be sad” when all is said and done. “I’m gonna miss my crew, my cast, the people that I’ve known for years and years [who have] become like a family to me at this point,” he added. “It feels like I’m graduating again.”

Grown-ish‘s 100th episode airs April 17 at 10 p.m. ET on Freeform and streams the next day on Hulu.
